A streetside restaurant in Vietnam has preserved the chair, table, and utensils that former U.S. President Barack Obama used when he visited the establishment nearly two years ago.
The pair sampled bún chả, a traditional Vietnamese dish consisting of grilled pork, rice noodles, and vegetables.
Restaurant owner Nguyen Thi Lien knew that a foreign TV crew was coming, but she had never imagined that Obama would be part of it.
“Obama was nice, smiling, cheerful and popular with everyone,” she told AFP at the time. “His presence in our restaurant was a great surprise for my whole family, who could never have imagined it, even in our dreams.”
Obama and Bourdain paid only $6 before heading out, where a crowd gathered to cheer on them.
Nguyen reportedly missed a photo with Obama, but his shocking visit surely changed her restaurant since.
As Reddit found out recently, the restaurant isolated the chair, table and utensils that the pair used in glass for display!
Nguyen also created a menu called “Combo Obama,” which puts together everything that the former president had for dinner that evening.
Obviously, a dinner this cheap and delicious — with an apparent “blessing” from the former U.S. president — must draw patrons from all over!
